FC Bayern’s final friendly before the start of the second half of the 2015/16 season will be away to Karlsruher SC, the clubs have announced. Pep Guardiola and his men travel to face the second division side on Saturday 16 January 2016. The contest at the Wildparkstadion in the south-west of the country kicks off at 15:30 CET.
Zagreb defeat Arsenal
In two weeks, on 29 September, the top match of Group F will take place at the Allianz Arena, as Dynamo Zagreb emulated FC Bayern by winning their opening match. The Croatian champions laid down a marker with their 2-1 victory over Arsenal in their home Maksimir stadium. The crucial moments before the break were Alex Oxlaid-Chamberlain’s own goal (24) and Arsenal forward Oliver Giroud being sent off for a second yellow card (40). In the second half Junior Fernandes (58) made it 2-0 from a corner. The Gunners’ response from Theo Walcott (79) came too late.
Two debuts, one milestone
The Champions League opener against Olympiacos was special for three Bavarians. While Manuel Neuer made his 50th Champions League appearance, Joshua Kimmich made his debut in Europe’s top club competition when he was fielded in the second half. New signing Kingsley Coman made his first CL appearance in FCB colours; he crowned his substitute appearance with an assist and also won a penalty.
