On Wednesday 23 September 2015, FC Bayern München will for the first time provide training and other facilities at the Säbener Strasse complex for 28 young people who have fled their home countries. The refugees, mainly still minors, are currently quartered in the refugee reception centre in Munich. They have been selected for the “training camp”, announced by FC Bayern in early September, by municipal social services.
FC Bayern München is liaising with Mayor of Munich Dieter Reiter and Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann in developing its refugee assistance program.
For the “training camp” project the FC Bayern youth section is receiving organisational and specialist support from the city of Munich. The 28 young people will play football supervised by FC Bayern youth coaches, and will then be catered for in the staff canteen.
After assessing the initial experience, the city of Munich and FC Bayern will subsequently establish appropriate intervals for the “training camps”.
