Guardiola: We’ve won a tough game

FC Bayern were breathing a sigh of relief after the hard-won 1-0 victory away to Bremen. “We’ve won a tough game,” commented Pep Guardiola at the post-match press conference. Robert Lewandowski said that “you can't play perfectly every time. We're very pleased with the three points.”

Reaction to Bremen v FCB

Pep Guardiola: “We’ve won a tough game. Bremen defended very deep. It wasn't easy to find gaps, especially since we had no wingers. We controlled the match well, but you know it'll be difficult towards the end if it's only 1-0. Congratulations to my team. This victory means a lot to me.”

Thomas Müller: “We’ve taken three points, record or no record. But it's a nice footnote. It ‘ll be hard to match. We were clearly dominant, we had a few chances more, particularly after the break, and there were some controversial incidents in the Bremen box. We'd have liked to score the second goal, but this way it was exciting until the end. It was a decent performance.”

Robert Lewandowski: “We're very pleased with the three points, even if we only won 1-0. You can't play perfectly every time. Bremen were very defensive, with a back five in their own box. It's not easy for strikers in that situation. I think it was a clear penalty, but fortunately we still took three points. From tomorrow on we focus on the Champions League.”

Viktor Skripnik (Werder Bremen coach): “We deliberately defended very deep, we wanted to rely on our compact formation and wait for our chances. Later we made more chances, but to be honest Bayern could have wrapped things up earlier. It would have been over in that case.”

Felix Wiedwald (Bremen keeper): “We were very well organised at the back, made it difficult for Bayern and had one or two chances after counter-attacks. With a little luck it could have been a draw.”
