FC Bayern had very good reasons to celebrate on Saturday afternoon. Not only was it their 1,000th victory in the Bundesliga, they also set three stunning new records:
Starting record
Ten wins in ten matches: FC Bayern extended their Bundesliga starting record with the 4-0 victory over FC Köln. The old record of eight wins set by FCB themselves dates back to the 2012/13 treble-winning season. Surveying the top five European leagues only Tottenham Hotspur had an even more successful start with 11 consecutive victories in the English top flight in the 1960/61 season.
Goalscoring record
Bayern have scored an unprecedented 33 goals in the first ten matches. The previous best mark of 32 goals was set by Bayern in 1976/77 and Eintracht Frankfurt in 1974/75.
Record duo
Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Müller scored one goal each against the Billy Goats. The two FCB forwards have netted 23 times (Lewandowski 13, Müller ten), which makes them the most goal-hungry duo in the history of the Bundesliga at this stage in the campaign.
