Germany start the final spurt in the Euro 2016 qualifiers with four FCB players. As expected head coach Joachim Löw called up Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, Mario Götze and Jérôme Boateng on Friday. In the last two matches the 23-man squad will face Ireland on Thursday 8 October in Dublin and Georgia on 11 October in Leipzig. A draw in Dublin would be enough to seal a spot in the Euro finals. In case of a loss Löw's men would need a victory over Georgia to secure their berth in France.

Fritz to referee top clash

Marco Fritz has been appointed as referee for the top Bundesliga match between FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund. It is the first time this season that the banker from Korb takes charge of a Bayern game. In the last campaign he oversaw the match away to Schalke, a 1-1 draw, and the cup clash with Hamburg, a 3-1 victory. One day after his 38th birthday Fritz will be assisted by Dominik Schaal and Marcel Pilgrim, with Robert Schröder as fourth official.
