Chile versus Brazil was the mouth-watering pairing at the outset of 2018 World Cup qualifying in South America on Thursday night. Two FC Bayern stars were in the thick of the action over the full distance, Arturo Vidal for Chile and Douglas Costa for Brazil. Vidal and his team-mates were the ones celebrating at the final whistle as the 45,000 crowd in Santiago De Chile saw the home team prevail 2-0 in a closely-fought encounter. Hoffenheim striker Eduardo Vargas struck the 72nd-minute opener, with Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez wrapping it up a minute from time. Vidal provided the assist for his side's second goal, but Costa was unable to prevent the visitors falling to defeat.
