FC Bayern defender Mehdi Benatia has been named on a 37-man list of candidates for the 2015 African Player of the Year award. Continental federation CAF announced the shortlist for the award on Wednesday. Alongside Morocco international Benatia, who is currently sidelined with a muscular problem, the Bundesliga has two other representatives on the list in the shape of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Dortmund and Gladbach’s Ibrahima Traoré. Manchester City’s Yaya Touré has won the award for the last four years in a row.
