Rummenigge: An important marker

There’s still a week to go until Christmas, but Friday brought an early gift for all FCB fans with the news that Thomas Müller, Jérôme Boateng, Javi Martínez (until 2021) and Xabi Alonso (until 2017) have committed their futures to FC Bayern. “We can be glad that four key players will be staying at FC Bayern in the long run,” a delighted Karl-Heinz Rummenigge exclusively told FCB.tv. “It's an important marker.”

“The decision to extend my contract wasn't difficult,” reported Boateng, “I feel perfectly fine here. FC Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world!” Thomas Müller agreed, revealing that his decision was influenced by a “super team” and “fantastic fans. I have a close relationship with the fans. The club is more than an employer to me, it has been part of my life for more than 15 years now.”

Javi Martínez and Xabi Alonso remain part of the Bayern family too. “There are lots of good reasons to stay,” commented Alonso, who has extended his stay through 2017. “The main thing is that my family and I are very happy here.” His compatriot Martínez added that Munich and the club are “perfect for a footballer. I'm happy and proud to be part of the club in the coming years.”

“With the contract extensions we wanted to indicate that the door is totally closed to other clubs,” said Rummenigge, who re-emphasisied the club’s policy: “We won't sell players we don't want to sell.” After all, Bayern aim to clinch more titles with a powerful team. Thomas Müller promised: “I'll give everything for the chance to present more trophies to the fans at Marienplatz!”
