Another accolade for David Alaba: the FCB pro was named the most popular Austrian footballer of the year for the third time in a row, based on a poll conducted by Austrian newspaper Kronen. “It's a great honour for me, it makes me really proud,” commented Alaba at the award ceremony in Vienna on Monday evening. The 23-year-old won the award by a considerable margin with 431,477 votes, ahead of Rapid Vienna's runner-up Steffen Hofmann, who also served his footballing apprenticeship in the FCB youth section, and Wacker Innsbruck's Thomas Pichlmann. In December Alaba was named Austrian Player of the Year by the Austrian Bundesliga coaches and sporting directors.
New dad Ulreich
Good news for Sven Ulreich! The Bayern keeper, who is currently sidelined, became a father for the first time on Saturday afternoon when his wife Lisa gave birth to Malia. Warm congratulations!
Carnival at the Erlebniswelt
It is Carnival time in Germany, and the next FC Bayern Erlebniswelt family day on 8 February (Carnival Monday) will be dedicated to the traditional celebrations: younger visitors can explore their creative talents as they paint their faces and get immersed in handicrafts. Admission is free for kids in typical Carnival costumes.
