Two outstanding experts in their field met at the Säbener Strasse facility on Wednesday: football world champion Manuel Neuer and newly-crowned European handball champion Andreas Wolff. Only three days after Germany's triumph in the European championship in Poland, handball netminder Wolff watched FC Bayern team training and exchanged a few words with the FCB keeper, who kept track of fellow custodian Wolff during the championship. “Wolff stays on his feet for a long time, has good anticipation and forces his opponent to move first,” Neuer analysed. His team-mates joined in the congratulations. Thomas Müller suggested: “Why don't you try it between the sticks here?”
Juventus' Khedira rated doubtful
Three weeks before the first of two Champions League encounters with FC Bayern, Juventus' Sami Khedira faces a spell on the sidelines. The German world champion sustained a groin injury in the 4-0 league victory over Chievo Verona, the club announced. Khedira faces a lay-off of two to three weeks. Striker Mario Mandzukic is also rated doubtful for the first leg in Turin on 23 February. Both are likely to be available for the second leg of the last sixteen tie on 16 March.
Allianz Arena named number one
The Allianz Arena was the most-visited German stadium in 2015, according to a study conducted by football magazine “Stadionwelt INSIDE.” Considering both football matches and corporate events 2,790,860 guests visited FC Bayern's home. The Arena in Fröttmaning tops the rankings ahead of Gelsenkirchen's VELTINS Arena (2,575,054) and Dortmund's SIGNAL IDUNA PARK (2,060,877) even though, unlike the Allianz Arena, the figures of the latter two include concert-goers.
Ulreich set to return
After three weeks on the sidelines Sven Ulreich took up parts of the team training programme on Wednesday. The FCB keeper completed passing exercises and worked with goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic. Ulreich stretched a syndesmosis ligament on the last day of the Doha training camp in mid-January. The 27-year-old is poised to resume the full squad programme.
