Mario Götze resumed the team training programme on Monday and is feeling “good,” the 23-year-old said after Thursday morning’s workout, “but obviously I still need to be patient for little while longer. I’ll try and complete all the sessions this and next week and then we’ll see where I stand.” Götze has been sidelined for almost four months with a groin injury. “If you’ve been out for a while, your instinct is to do as much as possible – but you have to be clever about it,” the gifted forward continued.
Juve’s injury crisis deepens
Juventus pair Mario Mandzukic and Sami Khedira are already rated doubtful for the Champions League Round of 16 meeting with FC Bayern. The Serie A side could now be without another important player: defender Martin Caceres was stretchered off the pitch in Wednesday evening’s 1-0 victory over CFC Genoa with a suspected Achilles tendon injury. “We can only hope he won’t be out for too long,” commented boss Massimiliano Allegri.
