King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands began a two-day working trip to Bavaria on Tuesday. The royals are visiting trade fairs in Munich and Nuremberg and are opening an exhibition.
Willem-Alexander and Máxima had intended to honour FC Bayern with a visit and an agenda had already been arranged, but the plan had to be shelved due to the club’s Champions League commitments in Lisbon.
FC Bayern will still be well represented at two royal appointments with FCB women’s player Vivianne Miedema, and men’s star Arjen Robben. The FC Bayern pair are both Dutch nationals.
In honour of the King and Queen, the Allianz Arena will be illuminated in the Dutch national colour of orange late on Tuesday evening.
