Matthias Sammer (48), FC Bayern München board director for sport, was unable to follow our two most recent matches (at home to Werder Bremen and in Berlin) from the coaching dugout as normal. The reason was a “minute circulatory disorder in the brain, which will heal completely and without consequences,” said club doctor Prof Dr Roland Schmidt.
Matthias Sammer is feeling well again. “I’m not constrained in any way and the doctors have assured me I’ll be completely healed and restored,” he said on Sunday evening. “However, I will give myself the necessary time to recover. After that I will again be available to the team and FC Bayern with all my energy.”
“The most important thing now is that Matthias Sammer recovers completely,” commented FC Bayern München chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. “Matthias knows we will give him all the time he needs before resuming his duties at FC Bayern with his previous strength.”
