The championship shield is back where it belongs: dahoam, at the FC Bayern Erlebniswelt! No less a personality than top scorer Robert Lewandowski delivered the trophy to the FCB club museum on Tuesday lunchtime. Three days after the official handover at the Allianz Arena the milestone shield, symbolising the 25th Bundesliga title and the fourth German championship in a row, took up residence in a display cabinet in themuseum’s Via Triumphalis. “I'm delighted to be bringing the shield here,” Lewandowski said on his visit to the Erlebniswelt. FCB fans can marvel at the original Meisterschale before it is replaced by an official replica at the beginning of August.
Klinsmann names Julian Green in US squad
Striker Julian Green has been called up to the preliminary US men’s national team squad for the preparatory phase ahead of the Copa America from 3 to 26 June in the USA. Coach Jürgen Klinsmann named the Bayern reserve in a 22-strong squad, although players from Major League Soccer will not join the group until 23 May. To mark 100 years since the founding of South American confederation CONMEBOL, the tournament will be staged outside the southern Americas for the first time.
