Reigning European champions Spain made a winning start to the EURO 2016 on Monday afternoon. La Roja beat the Czech Republic 1-0 and are now joint top of Group D with Croatia. The 33,000 crowd at Toulouse's Stade Municipal saw a one-sided contest, but it was not until the closing stages that centre-back Gerard Piqué handed his side the thoroughly deserved lead. Bayern pro Thiago came on after 70 minutes and added impetus in Spain's attacking unit.
Happy Birthday, Kingsley Coman
Kingsley Coman's appearance in the Euro opener against Romania on Friday made him France's youngest-ever player at a major tournament at 19 years and 362 days. On Monday the FCB winger had another reason to celebrate. On the occasion of Coman's 20th birthday, his team-mates presented him with a cake containing a table firework in blue, white and red and sang a birthday serenade at the Clairefontaine team base. Warm congratulations from fcbayern.de: bon anniversaire!
