Lahm: 'A blend of pressing and patience'

After the first ten days of training Philipp Lahm played 90 minutes for the first time this season. The 32-year-old was one of the few Bayern pros who covered the full distance in Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Manchester City in hot summer temperatures. After the final whistle the skipper drew a positive conclusion to the start of pre-season and commented on his first impressions of Carlo Ancelotti and the reunion with Pep Guardiola.

Philipp Lahm on...

...the match against Manchester City:
“I think you could see that our tactics are a little different from our style of play in the last few years, that there's a blend of pressing and patience. Every player has to adapt and learn the new paths. It just takes time, which is why these friendlies against strong opponents are important. The coach gains impressions and can show us in pictures what we can improve. It's also a welcome change to training. I prefer games like this one over two training sessions per day.”

...the first days with Carlo Ancelotti:
“The cooperation has been very enjoyable so far. You can really exchange views with him. He's an outstanding coach.”

...the reunion with Pep Guardiola:
“It's always nice to meet old companions. Successful years have made us bond, even if it isn't so long ago that we last met.”
