The chief of the German defence had to be subbed off with injury in the 2-0 defeat to France. A thorough examination following the return to Munich has confirmed the initial diagnosis: Boateng sustained a ruptured muscle bundle in his right thigh against the EURO hosts. However, the centre-back will be fit for the season opener.
