New sleeve logo for cup winners

FC Bayern will take on Carl Zeiss Jena in the first DFB Cup round wearing special shirts. A DFB Cup winners sleeve logo will adorn their kits, a premiere in German football. The German FA (DFB) honours FC Bayern's cup triumph over Borussia Dortmund in Berlin on 21 May 2016 with this badge. The 85.995 x 116.2 mm logo replaces the usual DFB Cup sleeve logo in all FC Bayern cup matches this season.

Cup premiere against Jena

Friday's cup tie at 20.45 CET will be the first competitive fixture between the first teams of Carl Zeiss Jena and FC Bayern. The Munich men took on the Jena reserves in the second round of the 1993/94 DFB Cup, a 2-0 victory. The sides last faced off in a friendly in 2011, when David Alaba and Nils Petersen scored in a 2-0 Bayern victory.

FCB about to set new record

A victory in Jena would mean a new DFB Cup record for FC Bayern: the German record champions are unbeaten in 23 cup ties (penalty shootouts count as draws). The last defeat dates back to 2012, a 5-2 reverse against Borussia Dortmund in the final.

Jena strong against favourites

Beware! The fourth-tier outfit boast a decent record against Bundesliga sides, winning four of the last eight duels. Jena won two ties on penalties and two after extra-time. The Thuringians knocked out Hamburger SV 3-2 in the 2015/16 first cup round.

Cup winner Ancelotti

Bayern's new head coach Carlo Ancelotti boasts an impressive title collection. The Italian won three domestic cups with three different clubs in three different countries: with AC Milan in 2003, with Chelsea in 2010 and with Real Madrid in 2014.

Reunion for FCB trio

Three FC Bayern pros have encountered Carl Zeiss Jena in cup ties so far. Manuel Neuer and Rafinha won 4-1 away to Jena with Schalke in the 2009 Round of 16, Sven Ulreich made his cup debut with VfB Stuttgart in the 2008 quarter-finals, losing 7-6 on penalties against Jena.
