This time the professional squad for the new season was not presented to the fans at the Allianz Arena, but digitally in a spectacular, 75-minute “Late-Night Show.” The event was broadcast live on the FC Bayern Facebook channel. Youngsters Fabian Benko and Niklas Dorsch led the way, the superstars like Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller and captain Philipp Lahm appeared towards the end.
The Bayern pros subsequently scattered to several stations. Müller talked about his holiday in Austria with the Copa 90 hosts in the studio, answering fans' questions. Mats Hummels took a Bavarian language test. Thiago and Joshua Kimmich played EA SPORTS' FIFA 17 on the games console, whereas David Alaba and Xabi Alonso chatted with bloggers on the latest fashion trends.
One of the highlights was staged on the Allianz Arena pitch, where Müller, Neuer and Robert Lewandowski competed with selected fans in golf, football tennis and a penalty shootout in the #FCBchallenge. After the digital show the Allianz Arena opened its doors to the fans for a public training session in front of a 15,000 crowd. The only players missing were long-term absentees Jérôme Boateng, Arjen Robben and Douglas Costa as well as Franck Ribéry and Holger Badstuber, who are recovering from muscular problems.
