Boateng returns to Germany squad

Germany's next two World Cup qualifiers will feature five Bayern stars. Joachim Löw's troops take on the Czech Republic in Hamburg on 8 October and Northern Ireland in Hannover on 11 October. Besides Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, Joshua Kimmich and Mats Hummels, Jérôme Boateng will be part of the 22-strong squad. The centre-back missed the first international after the Euro finals, a 3-0 victory over Norway in August, with injury.

Germany made a perfect start to World Cup qualifying with the win away to Norway, topping Group C, followed by Azerbaijan who are equal on points. The match between the Czech Republic and Northern Ireland ended in a goalless draw. Only the group winners qualify directly for the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia, the second-placed sides have to prevail in the play-offs to seal a berth in the tournament.
