Hummels: "A great moment"

What a game! Bayern were naturally delighted with their last-minute win over Hamburger SV. “Hamburg are really tough to play against. They get stuck in and fight,” said Mats Hummels, who had to be substituted following an injury. Goalscorer Joshua Kimmich, however, was slightly critical of the first-half performance.

Reaction to HSV v FCB:

Carlo Ancelotti: “It was a difficult game, especially in the first half. Hamburg played with great intensity. The pass from Thiago at the end was fantastic – real quality.”

Joshua Kimmich: “We were not good in the first half. We had no ideas going forward and didn’t create much. In the second half we had three or four great chances and luckily got the goal in the end.”

Mats Hummels: “Hamburg are really tough to play against. They get stuck in and fight. We were not always accurate and a bit slow. It was a hard one today, and we only got through thanks to a great moment from Thiago and Franck Ribery.”

Bruno Labbadia (coach Hamburger SV): “We didn’t want to be like rabbits in headlights, and you could see that. We wanted to play. We had two big chances in the first half from winning the ball. The team was not just convincing in its fighting approach but they also played good football. The boys are really down about the result, but they did great.”
