Many people, lots of beer, little sleep: a virus is a common phenomenon in Munich during the hustle and bustle of the world-famous Wiesn. However, a virus is doing the rounds at FC Bayern before the official opening of the 183rd edition of the Oktoberfest. FC Bayern will have to make do without Philipp Lahm, David Alaba and Thomas Müller on Saturday, when they contest their first home match during this year's Wiesn. The trio miss out with gastro-enteritis in the all-Bavaria derby against FC Ingolstadt. "They won't be able to play tomorrow," Carlo Ancelotti reported on Friday.
On a more positive note, the Bayern head coach has Arjen Robben, Jérôme Boateng and Kingsley Coman at his disposal for the first time. "Robben and Boateng have trained very well this week. They'll start on the bench tomorrow," the 57-year-old said before the third match in a phase of seven fixtures in 23 days, and added that Kingsley Coman would make the starting line-up: "He'll start tomorrow."
Kimmich starts, Hummels fit
Joshua Kimmich will join him in the starting XI, according to Ancelotti: "I haven't decided on the line-up yet, but Kimmich will play tomorrow." The Italian declined to reveal where the youngster would take up station. "He can play anywhere. Right-back, full-back, left-back, central midfield - and as a forward too, as we've seen," Ancelotti explained with a grin, referring to Kimmich's tally of four goals in the last three matches.
Mats Hummels, who sustained a cranial bruise in the 5-0 victory over Rostov on Tuesday, is available for selection too: "He'll be able to play tomorrow."
