Atlético Madrid have maintained their lead in Group D, posting a third 1-0 victory in their third Champions League fixture. The Spaniards battered away in vain against FC Rostov's packed defence for a long period despite dominating proceedings away from home, before Yannick Carrasco scored the yearned-for match-winner after the hour mark. The midfielder netted Juanfran's square pass from close range, scoring his fifth goal in two fixtures. It was the Russians' first home defeat after having gone 26 matches unbeaten at the Olimp-2 stadium. The result means Rostov are bottom of the table on one point, level with PSV.
Milestone for Lahm
Philipp Lahm made his 100th Champions League appearance for the German record champions on Wednesday evening. Only Oliver Kahn has made more CL appearances for Bayern, boasting 103. However, Lahm also wore the VfB Stuttgart shirt in seven Champions League matches, so he represents the gold standard among German players on 107 appearances in Europe's premier club competition.
