Five Bayern wins over PSV

FCB have won none of their last four Champions League away games (2 draws, 2 losses). Bayern last went on a longer winless run on the road in the competition between February 2002 and March 2004 (10 matches). The Reds have lost their last two away fixtures in the Champions League (both 1-0 at Atlético Madrid).

Five Bayern wins over PSV

FC Bayern and PSV Eindhoven meet competitively for the eighth time this evening. The Reds have been victorious in five of the previous seven encounters, drawing one and losing one. This defeat came in the 1999/2000 group stage (2-1).

Positive record against Dutch sides

Bayern’s record against teams from the Netherlands is impressive. Eleven wins, four draws and four defeats in 19 matches for the record champions (scoring 40, conceding 26).

Room for PSV improvement

The Dutch champions, however, have had a tough time against German opposition. They have won just ten of 36 matches, drawing seven and losing 19 (37 scored, 49 conceded). PSV’s last victory over a German team was in the group stage of the Champions League last season (2-0 vs. Wolfsburg).

PSV winless in five CL ties

There is also room for improvement in Eindhoven’s recent Champions League record. The Dutch champions are without a win in five matches in the competition (3 draws, 2 losses), which is their longest run since going seven without victory between October 2001 and October 2002. Their last win came in December 2015 at CSKA Moscow (2-1).

Italian Rocchi in charge

Gianluca Rocchi is the referee for tonight’s champions league clash between PSV Eindhoven and FC Bayern Munich. The Italian has previously taken charge of two FCB matches in the Champions League: The 5-1 win against Arsenal in November 2015 and the 3-0 win over CSKA in September 2013. Rocchi will officiate a PSV game for the first time on Tuesday.
