FC Bayern prevailed in the second edition of the all-Bavaria derby this week, winning 3-1 away to FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga. "We started well, just like in the cup during the week," Carlo Ancelotti commented, pleased with his team's good start. Two-goal Robert Lewandowski was equally satisfied.
Reaction to Augsburg v Bayern
Carlo Ancelotti: "We started well, just like in the cup during the week. Things went very well in the first half. We controlled the game well after the two goals. Augsburg attacked more in the second half and scored the consolation goal. Robert Lewandowski and Arjen Robben set up good combinations today, it's good for the team."
Robert Lewandowski: "We played very well from the off. We knew we had to hit the gas and take three points. We controlled the entire match well. I've always known there might be moments when I don't score but it worked out for me again today."
Dirk Schuster (Augsburg coach): "Congratulations to FC Bayern on the three points. They won the match deservedly. We played well in the first 20 minutes, the game went as we had planned. The two goals for Bayern made us uncertain and nervous. The third goal settled the game. It wasn't to be today. But we didn't let them thrash us - quite the contrary."
Paul Verhaegh (Augsburg captain): "It's clear that it's always a difficult match against a strong team. We conceded the goals in too quickly one after the other. We didn't give up and gave it everything, but we didn't make it really exciting either."
