FC Bayern have won the sixth out of eight Bundesliga matches, retaining their lead at the top of the standings after Saturday's 2-0 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach. "It was a really good display with high intensity in the first half, the best so far this season," commented Carlo Ancelotti. Discussing the second half the FCB head coach specifically praised his team's control and balance, while Gladbach coach André Schubert declared: "It was a deserved victory for Bayern."
Reaction to FC Bayern v Borussia Mönchengladbach
Carlo Ancelotti: "It was a really good display with high intensity in the first half, the best so far this season. I'm very pleased about it. The second half wasn't as good as the first one. Gladbach were stronger and caused us more problems. But we controlled the match well, our balance was good and we defended well."
Mats Hummels: "We were very focused and dominant in the first half, we had lots of chances. We can be very satisfied with that. We were a bit passive with and without the ball in the second half. It was dangerous once or twice."
André Schubert (Gladbach coach): "The first half was clear-cut. We didn't win the one-on-ones, we weren't aggressive enough and far too passive. We lacked courage when in possession and gave the ball away far too easily. In the second half we did a little better, but Bayern permitted it to some extent. Altogether it was a deserved victory for Bayern."
Christoph Kramer (Gladbach): "It's a pity we didn't find our way into the game. If we'd played the first half the way we did in the second maybe something would have been possible. We just weren't compact enough, we were aggressive at the wrong moments and too far away at the right ones."
