Griezmann seals last-gasp win for Atlético
Both Atlético Madrid and FC Bayern booked a berth in the Champions League Round of 16 on Matchday 4. The crowd at the Estadio Vicente Calderón saw the Spaniards struggle against FC Rostov for a long time. It was only in injury time that Antoine Griezmann scored the match-winner in the 2-1 victory. The France international had also opened the scoring before the half-hour mark, but Rostov's Sardar Azmoun levelled the scores almost immediately. The result means Atlético still top Group D on 12 points, three clear of FC Bayern. Rostov and PSV are well behind on one point each.
Lewy like Messi
FC Bayern's 2-1 victory over PSV had Robert Lewandowski's name stamped all over it. The Pole swelled his Champions League tally to 36 goals in 56 matches. Incidentally, Lionel Messi boasted 36 goals after 56 CL appearances too.
Milestone for Costa
Douglas Costa came on after the hour mark in the Champions League encounter with PSV at the Philips Stadion, making his 50th appearance in a competitive fixture for FC Bayern. Congratulations!
Breather for Thiago
Thiago has been an integral part of the FC Bayern line-up recently, but the Spain international was not part of the squad for the CL match in Eindhoven. "He has slight muscular problems," explained assistant coach Hermann Gerland before kick-off. Head coach Carlo Ancelotti was unwilling to take any risks, awarding a breather to the midfielder.
