Poland coach Adam Nawalka has awarded Robert Lewandowski a rest from international action. The Bayern striker, Dortmund's Lukasz Piszczek and AS Monaco's Kamil Glick are not in the squad to take on Slovenia on Monday. The trio will return to their clubs early. "They've made very many appearances for their clubs and need to rest," said Jakub Kwiatkowski, spokesman of the Polish FA.
'My ears were ringing'
Lewandowski scored a brace in Friday's World Cup qualifier away to Romania. A firecracker was thrown onto the pitch and exploded near Lewandowski. The Poland captain was unhurt. "At first my ears were ringing," reported Lewy. "I needed a few minutes to come round. Fortunately, nothing happened."
