'I'm ready for tomorrow'

On Wednesday evening Sven Ulreich will make his competitive debut this term. The 28-year-old will feature between the sticks in the Champions League encounter with FC Rostov as number one keeper Manuel Neuer misses out with a tight calf. Ulreich will make his fourth appearance in a competitive fixture for Bayern in his second Champions League outing. However, the netminder has contested a total of 28 European matches so far, and made his debut in Europe's elite club competition in the 2-0 victory away to Zagreb eleven months ago. Ulreich talked to fcbayern.com during the trip to Rostov.

Interview: Sven Ulreich

fcbayern.com: Sven, you'll feature between the posts on Wednesday evening. How excited are you?
Ulreich: Of course I'm glad I'll play. I train for opportunities like this one after all.

fcbayern.com: Compared to the other trips with the team, in what ways is this trip different for you?
Ulreich: I'm definitely a bit more focused. There's a certain tension.

fcbayern.com: It'll be your first appearance since the US tour at the beginning of August. How fit are you feeling?
Ulreich: I'm feeling fine, and I'm ready for tomorrow. I always train with the team as usual, and prepare for every game as if I'd make an appearance. Besides, I have some experience, internationally and in the Bundesliga.

fcbayern.com: How busy do you think you're going to be at the Olimp-2 stadium?
Ulreich: I think I won't have too much to do, just like Manu (Manuel Neuer) on nearly every occasion. However, the main thing is to perform in the decisive situations.

fcbayern.com: If you could choose what happens, what kind of game comes to mind?
Ulreich: First I hope I'll find my way into the game. The procedures are a bit different from our training routine, we usually play on smaller fields. It would be nice if I could show what I'm capable of once or twice. And of course we want to win the match, ideally with a clean sheet.
