Five Bayern players made their final appearances for their national teams in 2016 on Tuesday evening. There were three draws in the three matches for the FCB quintet, with only one player completing the 90 minutes. fcbayern.com has a summary of the three encounters.

In the evening’s prestige encounter, four-time world champions Italy hosted current champions Germany in Milan. Despite good chances for both sides, the entertaining match ended in a goalless draw. Thomas Müller captained Germany on the night and featured alongside fellow Reds Mats Hummels and Joshua Kimmich. Hummels was substituted at half time and Müller after an hour but Kimmich saw out the 90 minutes at the San Siro.

There was another goalless draw for Austria and Slovakia at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Vienna. FCB’s David Alaba started on the bench but was introduced into the action for the second half. Just 14,200 spectators were in attendance to witness the draw, which saw Austria have the better chances of the game.

Thiago and Spain managed a last-minute draw against England at Wembley. Adam Lallana’s penalty (9’) had put the hosts ahead early on before Jamie Vardy (48’) doubled the lead just after half time. Substitutes Iago Aspas (89’) and Isco (90’+7) both scored late on to salvage a draw for the 2010 world champions, for whom Thiago played 56 minute before being substituted.
