Munich, Friday 16 December 2016: FC Bayern München has today agreed a one-year contract extension with Marcio Rafael Ferreira de Souza, whose playing name is Rafinha. The 31-year-old's current contract was scheduled to expire at the end of the current season, but FC Bayern has exercised an option in the player's contract extending it by a further year until 30 June 2018.

"Rafinha is important to us out on the field of play, but he is also much loved in the dressing room," commented FC Bayern München AG chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. The right-back joined FC Bayern on 1 July 2011 and has since scored four goals in 186 competitive appearances.

"I'm very pleased about the contract extension. I've been here for almost six years. FC Bayern is like a second family to me and it's one of the best clubs in the world," said the Brazilian-German dual national. "I want to win as many more trophies with FC Bayern as possible."
