Clement: "I'm now a Bayern fan"

FC Bayern did not want to stand in his way, and things have since moved quickly. Paul Clement did not travel with the squad to the training camp in Qatar on Tuesday but instead singed a contract with Premier League club Swansea City to be their manager until the end of the 2018/19 season. The 44-year-old Englishman had been Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant coach in Munich since the start of the season, and before he devotes himself fully to his new job, Clement felt the need to say “Thank you” on fcbayern.com.

"Thank you to everyone at FC Bayern for the fantastic experience I’ve had here over the last six months. FC Bayern has great players, a great team behind the team and fantastic fans.

My special thanks go to Carlo Ancelotti, whose assistant I have been for the last seven years. It was a joy to work alongside him.

I would also like to thank Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. He gave me the chance to come to FC Bayern and has now also given me the chance to fulfil my desire of becoming a head coach.

And last but not least, i wish everyone at FC Bayern great success for the second half of the season. I am now an FC Bayern München fan!”
