A 'truck-load of Weißwurst’ was what FC Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had promised FC Ingolstadt after they subjected RB Leipzig to their first defeat of the season on Matchday 14 to allow FCB to return to the top of the table. On Tuesday, Rummenigge stayed true to his word as he personally delivered Weißwurst and pretzels for the team and all workers at the Ingolstadt offices.
Lahm at state funeral in Berlin
FC Bayern trained without Philipp Lahm at Säbener Straße on Tuesday. The captain had been granted a day off by coach Carlo Ancelotti in order to attend the state funeral in Berlin of former President of Germany Roman Herzog, who passed away at the age of 82 two weeks ago. Born in Landshut, just 45 miles northeast of Munich, the former president was a founding member of the board of the Philipp Lahm Foundation and an honorary member of the foundation’s board from 2013, so Lahm knew him very well.

Following training on Tuesday morning, the Bayern players still had a few photo and recording appointments to fulfil. There was a photoshoot in the sports hall at Säbener Straße for the record champions’ new merchandising catalogue and for shareholders Audi. There were also recordings for other partners such as Procter & Gamble, Beats and BSH Hausgeräte.
FCB fined by sports tribunal
The German FA’s sports tribunal has handed a fine of €15,000 to FC Bayern due to two cases of unsporting behaviour by FCB fans. During the away games at Eintracht Frankfurt (15th October 2016) and at SV Darmstadt 98 (18th December 2016), pyrotechnics were lit in the Munich end of the ground. The record champions have accepted the judgement.
Zirbes joins FCBB – Balvin not in squad
FC Bayern Basketball have announced a spectacular new signing with Germany international Maik Zirbes joining on loan until the end of the season from EuroLeague side Maccabi Tel Aviv. The center, who turns27 on Sunday, is also eligible to play in the EuroCup. On the other hand, Ondrej Balvin is not in the Bayern squad. The Czech joined at the start of the season from Baloncesto Sevilla, but his contract has now been cancelled.
