Training, physiotherapy, meetings, media and sponsor events – during nine intensive days in Doha, the Bayern squad will be looking to lay the foundations for a successful second half to their season. fcbayern.com brings you all the ins and outs of each day in the desert emirate:
Day 5 - Saturday 7th January
RETURN OF THE DAY: After a day off because of a cold, Renato Sanches took part in full team training again. Goalkeeper Sven Ulreich, who was working alone in the weights room, and the recovering Kingsley Coman were the only absentees from Carlo Ancelotti’s intense training session. Ulreich then took part in goalkeeping drills in the afternoon.
NEW ARRIVALS OF THE DAY: FCB board members Andreas Jung and Jörg Wacker both paid a visit to the Bayern squad in Doha and watched the morning session. Both will be involved in various sponsor events in the coming days.
ONLOOKER OF THE DAY: There was a special viewer watching training from one of the two hills around the pitches at the Aspire Academy: Bora Milutinovic. The 72-year-old coaching legend, who has taken five different countries to the World Cup, was watching the Bayern sessions intensely. He has been a regular onlooker for years in Doha.
SAVE OF THE DAY: This didn’t come from Manuel Neuer or from Sven Ulreich or from Tom Starke or from Christian Früchtl. It came from Franck Ribéry! The Frenchman at first lost a one-on-one challenge with Philipp Lahm, who then went around Tom Starke and had an empty net to slot home, but Ribéry got back to make a save on the line with his head!
POST OF THE DAY:
Servus everyone,
