Thursday in Doha

Training, physiotherapy, meetings, media and sponsor events – during nine intensive days in Doha, the Bayern squad will be looking to lay the foundations for a successful second half to their season. fcbayern.com brings you all the ins and outs of each day in the desert emirate:

Day 3 - Thursday 5th January

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Javi Martinez and Kingsley Coman were back in training. Both players carried out running drills in the afternoon and also conducted some work with the ball at their feet. Martinez missed the first sessions in Doha through a cold, whilst Coman has been out since November because of a torn ligament in his knee and a tear in his left ankle.

SWIMMER OF THE DAY: It was water, not grass under foot today for Sven Ulreich. The keeper is suffering from muscle problems and so used the swimming pool by the training pitch for some rehabilitation work.

NUMBER OF THE DAY: More than 50 accredited journalists from Germany and around the world have accompanied FC Bayern to their training camp. They can visit the morning training session and ask their questions are two press conferences each day.

HEART-IN-MOUTH MOMENT OF THE DAY: Xabi Alonso came off second best from a collision with Holger Badstuber in the morning’s session and remained on the floor. The Spaniard was quickly treated and continued the session with a bandaged lower right leg.
