"The best way to prepare for FC Bayern is a victory." Arsenal took Arsène Wenger's words to heart, winning 2-0 against Hull City on Saturday after two defeats in a row and warming up positively for the Champions League last sixteen first leg at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
Alexis Sánchez was the man of the match at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Along with Mesut Özil, the Chilean directed operations in Arsenal's attacking unit and opened the scoring after the half-hour, tapping in the rebound after Kieran Gibbs' shot was scrambled off the line.
The hosts continued to dominate proceedings after the interval, closing out the game in the dying seconds. Hull midfielder Samuel Clucas cleared the ball on the goal-line with his hand following a counter-attack, earning him his marching orders. Sánchez netted the ensuing penalty to make it two after 92 minutes, taking his Premier League tally to 17 goals and moving to the top of the scorer rankings.
Arsenal's 15th league win this term means the Gunners advance to third place overnight.
