FC Bayern and North American youth partner Global Premier Soccer (GPS) hosted a national team camp in Rock Hill, South Carolina this weekend. Young players from all over the country took part in training sessions and workshops with 10 players from the 2001 age group selected to play for Team USA in the FC Bayern Youth Cup in Munich May 21st. Other countries participating in the Youth Cup will be Germany, Austria, China, Thailand and Singapore.

The camp in Rock Hill included some of the best young girls and boys from GPS' nationwide programs and affiliates in the age groups from 2000 to 2002. FC Bayern youth coach Thomas Doellner was present to lead and supervise the camp as well as help select the 10 players that will travel to Munich.

"We had players from 17 different States plus Puerto Rico and Canada. We spent three days working with them. Overall the quality of the players at the camp was superb. They showed great effort and mentality, on the field and in the classroom sessions," said Doellner.

The South Carolina camp came on the back of a successful showcase in Los Angeles in January in which 50 teams from 13 States participated, giving FC Bayern coaches the chance to observe and scout hundreds of players from GPS' nationwide network of players.
