Attention turns to Schalke

Following the resounding 8-0 win over Hamburger SV, Bayern’s concentration has quickly switched to Wednesday’s DFB Cup quarter-final against Schalke 04 (kick-off 20:45 CET, live ticker and Webradio commentary). “Schalke are in good form and have been playing well recently,” Manuel Neuer told FC Bayern TV News. “We’ve just played them at home so we already know what a difficult game it’ll be and that’s what you expect in the cup.” Coach Carlo Ancelotti will have the same squad at his disposal as he did at the weekend, although Renato Sanches missed training today with a cold.

FCB Youth Cup in Singapore for the first time

Now in its sixth year, the FC Bayern Youth Cup will take place in Singapore for the first time. On 8th and 9th April, 32 teams of ten players between the age of 14 and 16 will compete at the Singapore University of Technology and Design campus. The tournament will follow a seven-a-side format. FCB’s brand ambassador Hasan Salihamidzic will be in attendance and will select the ten best players to play for Team Singapore at the Youth Cup Final in Munich in May.

Jonker back in the Bundesliga

A familiar face is back in Germany. Andries Jonker, former assistant and caretaker coach at FC Bayern, has been named as VfL Wolfsburg’s new head coach. The 54 year-old Dutchman succeeds former Bayern player Valérien Ismaël. Jonker has signed a contract at the club until 2018. He had been working as the head of the youth academy at Bayern’s Champions League last 16 opponents Arsenal.
