FC Bayern won their home match against Hamburger SV 8-0 on Saturday, maintaining their five-point lead in the Bundesliga and warming up in style for the DFB Cup last eight tie against FC Schalke. The Bayern pros presented boss Carlo Ancelotti with an impressive result on the occasion of his 1000th match as a coach. "I didn't expect it to work so well, we did a very good job. I'm very happy, and for the next match I wish for the same attitude and the same spirit," the Italian said.
Reaction to Bayern v Hamburger SV
Carlo Ancelotti: "It was a perfect day, a perfect match. We played well, with good attitude. Before the match I told my players to turn in a good display on the occasion of my milestone. I didn't expect it to work so well, we did a very good job. I'm very happy, and for the next match I wish for the same attitude and the same spirit."
Thomas Müller: "It was really fun. At some point it took care of itself. If you win 8-0 in nice weather conditions and an outstanding atmosphere at the Arena, you can be very pleased as a club, as a team, as a fan."
Markus Gisdol (Hamburger SV coach): "It hurts today, and rightly so. We have to digest and come to terms with a very clear-cut defeat. We weren't serious opponents at any point today. Bayern played very well, whereas we didn't. We were too awestruck, and our opponents exploited it very well."
René Adler (Hamburger SV keeper): "We never found our way into the game, it seemed we didn't win a single tackle in the first half. Bayern have dealt us a blow. The way we lost doesn't only hurt, it's just unacceptable."
