What a finale! FC Bayern won their match away to Ingolstadt thanks to two last-gasp goals. The men from Munich were understandably happy after the final whistle. "It's an important victory for us, and we worked hard for it," said Carlo Ancelotti, who was pleased with the character his team had shown, whereas Arjen Robben felt sorry for the downcast hosts.
Reaction to Ingolstadt v Bayern
Carlo Ancelotti: "It's an important victory for us, and we worked hard for it. We had to up the ante in the second half and managed to reward ourselves. FCI's defence was very solid, but we won. We showed great character."
Philipp Lahm: "Everyone saw it was very, very difficult to play our passing game on this turf. We accepted it and knew the one-on-ones would be crucial. Ingolstadt often play long balls, so it was important to win the ball after the second pass. We could have taken the lead through Lewy in the first half and through Thomas in the second. If you score so late you have to admit luck is involved."
Arjen Robben: "I paid the Ingolstadt coach a great compliment. They put up a superb fight. It's always bitter to concede in the last minute."
Maik Walpurgis (Ingolstadt coach): "It was very bitter for us, the team defended very well. We thwarted clear-cut chances to a great extent, but we made too many mistakes in attack. We would have deserved a point due to our passion, so the defeat hurts. But we have to forget it and reward ourselves next week."
Marvin Matip (Ingolstadt): "We take away the positives, we put up a great fight against Bayern over 90 minutes after all. We defended well. We should have shown more courage when in possession, but we take away the good things. Not every team has the quality to up the pressure like that in the closing stages, as Bayern did."
