Four Bayern players in Germany squad but no Boateng
Four FC Bayern players have been included in the Germany squad for the first two internationals of the year. Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels and Joshua Kimmich are among the 24 players called up for the friendly against old rivals England in Dortmund on Wednesday (22nd March) and the World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan four days later in Baku (26th March). The match against England will be ex-Bayern star Lukas Podolski’s 130th and final appearance for the national team.
Coach Joachim Löw did not include Jérôme Boateng in his squad, with the Bayern defender only returning to action last weekend after three months out. Two men who have been selected are Hoffenheim duo Niklas Süle and Sebastian Rudy, who’ll be joining FCB for next season. The only new name in the squad is Leipzig’s Timo Werner.
