FC Bayern director of internationalisation and strategy Jörg Wacker officially launched the "FC Bayern 12 Level Kurs" initiative with a press conference in Bangkok on Wednesday.

Together with Thai partner STB (Sport Thai Bavaria) and the Education and Interior Ministry, FC Bayern has developed a 12-staged coaching programme, to be taught in sports classes at Thai schools in the coming years. The content of the coaching will be tailored to the relevant age groups of the Thai education system in order to guarantee an optimal implementation and support a successful education for Thailand’s next footballing generation. The FC Bayern 12 Level Kurs will be taught at over 3,000 schools throughout the country, reaching more than 500,000 children and teenagers.

“We’re pleased to be able to contribute to the development of youth football in Thailand and are pursuing this endeavour with great motivation,” said Wacker.

FCB coaches already travelled to Bangkok in November 2016 to take charge of the first round of coaching education. More Bayern coaches will now travel to Thailand on a regular basis in the coming months and years to teach local coaches in both theoretical sessions in classrooms and practical sessions out on the pitch. Thai coaches will also regularly come to Munich (as they did in February 2017) for further training.

Sebastian Dremmler, the international programme’s head coach, led a training session with selected children as part of the press conference to give the 120 media outlets present a first impression. Mascot Berni was also there to help create the atmosphere.

The action gets underway again in Bangkok on 1st and 2nd April with the final of the countrywide FC Bayern Youth Cup, which has been played in the last few months, and the “Legend Trophy Tour”, both with FC Bayern brand ambassador Hasan Salihamidzic.
