Just three days after a thumping 6-0 victory over FC Augsburg, FC Bayern are back in Bundesliga action on Tuesday evening away to TSG Hoffenheim (Live in English from 20.00 CEST via our Ticker and on FCBayern.tv Web Radio). The squad will show a few changes compared to Saturday: Thomas Müller took a knock to the ankle in the act of scoring his second goal against FCA and has been ruled out of the meeting with the side in third spot.
"He needs a two-day break," reported boss Carlo Ancelotti at Monday's pre-match press conference. "We'll have to see whether he'll be fit to face Dortmund." However, the striker is not considered doubtful for the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid: "We're certain he'll be ready to play again when we face Real."
Thiago to be rested
Manuel Neuer will also sit out the match in Sinsheim, although Ancelotti delivered good news on Monday, stating that the World’s Best Goalkeeper has “no problems any more” and has begun an individual training programme. “He’s 100 percent certain to be in goal against Real,” the Italian supremo said. Douglas Costa could also feature in the squad for the European showdown, as he is scheduled to resume team training on Wednesday. “He’s on track,” commented Ancelotti, “he’s working hard with great intensity.”
Dynamic Spanish midfielder Thiago is not injured but will be rested on Tuesday evening. “He’s played a lot of games recently so I’ve decided he should take a break,” Ancelotti explained. Team selection will nevertheless not be a problem for the coach as Javi Martínez and Xabi Alonso both return from suspension.
