FC Bayern struggled against FSV Mainz especially in the first half. "We didn't find our way into the match," an annoyed Thomas Müller commented after the final whistle. Bayern went a goal down twice but levelled the scores each time. "We weren't as compact as usual. We played better in the second half and fortunately scored the equaliser," analysed Carlo Ancelotti.
Reaction to Bayern v Augsburg
Carlo Ancelotti: "It was difficult, but we had expected more. We weren't as compact as usual in the first half. We should have done better. We were more compact in the second half, we played better and fortunately scored the equaliser."
Thomas Müller: "We didn't find our way into the match at first and allowed Mainz to score straightaway. We had to make up for it in the second half. We invested a lot, but you need a bit of luck to turn the tide, so we aren't satisfied."
Sven Ulreich: "We struggled in the first half and didn't find our way into the match. In view of our quality we have to turn in a better display, we mustn't allow that to happen. Mainz did a good job, we didn't find a solution. We played like FC Bayern in the second half, we were dominant and controlled the ball. We just have to win here, it's disappointing."
Martin Schmidt (Mainz coach): "If you travel to Munich you just hope you don't suffer like other teams. But you still have to tell your team to play with courage. Apparently I've found the right words for my team. It's not so easy. The point is a nice success."
