FCB Youth Cup finalists in the starting blocks

The FC Bayern Youth Cup 2017 is entering its decisive phase. Since Thursday the teams that are taking part in the world final have been arriving in Munich and preparing for Sunday’s climax: the final tournament at the Allianz Arena. As well as the holders Austria and hosts Germany, the teams from China, India, Singapore, Thailand and the USA have qualified.

The teams will have training sessions with FCB youth coaches over the next few days so that they’re in the best shape for the decisive matches. As well as these practice sessions, the youngsters can look forward to an exciting programme of events including a sightseeing tour through Munich, the German champions’ home match against Freiburg and a meet & greet with the Bayern players.

Sixth edition

Then on Sunday the main event takes place, with all seven teams playing against each other in a group phase. The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals and then the two winners will battle it out in the final.

The FC Bayern Youth Cup is an international tournament series for U-17 teams played on small pitches which has been put on annually since 2012. Preselection tournaments are held in various countries with ten players being picked to represent their country in the final. More than 6,500 players take part across the world and are scouted by Paul Breitner, Hasan Salihamidzic, Hans Pflügler and FC Bayern youth coaches.
