Neuer and Früchtl working on comeback
The first training session of pre-season doesn’t begin until Saturday for FC Bayern, but there were already boots out on the grass at Säbener Straße on Wednesday. Christian Früchtl, who suffered a syndesmosis tear in first-team training a few months ago, was back out on the pitch for the first time following his rehabilitation. Instead of working with gym equipment, there were running, ball and coordination drills on the programme outside with rehab coach Thomas Wilhelmi.
However, Manuel Neuer is not that far along yet but the FCB no.1 is working hard on his comeback after suffering a broken foot in April. The Germany captain has been working away in the performance centre since the start of the week. Completing muscle build-up and stabilisation drills, as well as sessions on the AlterG treadmill, the 31-year-old is progressing gently towards a return to the pitch.
