Lewandowski hailed by peers

What an accolade for Robert Lewandowski! The FC Bayern striker has been named best outfield player of the season for the first time. 248 Bundesliga pros took part in the poll conducted by respected weekly journal kicker. 25 percent of his peers voted for the Poland captain, who is followed by RB Leipzig's Naby Keita on 15.7 percent and Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on 10.5 percent.

Neuer retains crown

Manuel Neuer is familiar with the accolade. The FCB netminder has been named best goalkeeper of the season for the fourth time in a row. The 31-year-old claimed 32.7 percent of the votes, comfortably beating 1. FC Köln's Timo Horn on 12.9 percent and Hertha Berlin's Rune Jarstein on 8.5 percent.

Müller undergoes hand surgery

Thomas Müller needed surgery to repair damage to his right thumb he sustained during the season that has just ended. The forward is currently wearing a splint, but will be fit for pre-season which starts at the beginning of July.
