Karl-Heinz Rummenigge heaped praise on FC Bayern München’s U17 team and their coaching team of head coach Tim Walter and assistant Tobias Schweinsteiger after they reached the final of the German championship. Following the second leg at Schalke, the FCB chairman said: “I want to say a big congratulations to our U17 youngsters on making it to the final. After our U19s were involved in the final, this is further proof of the outstanding work being done in our youth department. I wish Tim Walter’s team the best of luck for next Sunday’s final against Werder Bremen on home turf at Grünwalder Straße and hope that the FC Bayern youngsters can celebrate a league title in 2017 just like the seniors did.”

Neuer ties the knot

There’ll be a big party in the Neuer household! After their civil ceremony in Tirol in May, the Bayern goalkeeper and his wife Nina said ‘I do’ again in a church in Monopoli in southern Italy. Neuer wore a dark suit with a white rose in his buttonhole while his wife was in a white floor-length wedding dress with a train. Neuer didn’t quite manage the whole wedding without crutches – the goalkeeper suffered a fracture in his foot during the Champions League game against Real Madrid in April. The couple had explicitly said they didn’t want gifts and instead asked guests to contribute to the Manuel Neuer Kids Foundation.
