A roller-coaster ride and interviews were just two of the extracurricular activities undertaken by the FCB stars on Tuesday evening following two punishing training workouts earlier in the day. Thomas Müller, James Rodriguez and David Alaba went head-to-head with Chinese freestylers at the adidas Football Park, while Javi Martinez, Juan Bernat and Mats Hummels met the fans at the city’s Hugo Boss Store.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Uli Hoeneß, Prof. Dr. Dieter Mayer, Jörg Wacker and Rouven Kasper paid a formal visit to the German general consulate in Shanghai where they were received by consul Jörn Beißert. Friendships and partnerships were cemented over a dinner with guests drawn from many companies with an active commitment to sport in China.

It was a case of up, up in the air for Franck Ribéry and Robert Lewandowski on a visit to the Oriental Pearl Tower. They had danced with fans at the foot of Shanghai’s best-known landmark before the real adventure began: with the help of VR goggles, the players took a roller-coaster ride through Shanghai at a height of 249 metres and then enjoyed a breathtaking view of the cityscape. “It was an odd feeling because we were very high up. A little anxiety is normal, but it was definitely fantastic,” the Frenchman said admiringly. “Seeing Shanghai by night was very special,” Lewandowski agreed.

The fcbayern.tv cameras naturally accompanied the players and officials on Tuesday night. Watch our exclusive highlights video here!
