For FC Bayern, pre-season is a time when everything is honed: tactics, skills and of course stamina. But on Tuesday, there was a somewhat different sort of practice session for Thomas Müller, Javi Martínez and Franck Ribéry. The three FC Bayern players attempted to speak Chinese for some film clips with new platinum partners Siemens.
The trio had a lot of fun and had to keep doing retakes because they were interrupted by laughter. Being true professionals, they obviously made a competition out of it straight away. “Who has the best pronunciation?” a grinning Thomas Müller asked the interpreter, who responded very diplomatically. The Bayern pros then went on to the Siemens staff party at Wittelsbacherplatz in Munich city centre.
Before Ribéry and co took time for autographs, they surprised employees with some photobombing. As individuals went into a photo booth that was constructed to look like the German champions’ dressing room, the players crept up from behind and got in the photo. All the participants were overjoyed while Müller, Martinez and Ribéry enjoyed a welcome distraction in between the two training sessions of the day.
